Although the Yankee Capts has excellent rental tackle many people prefer to bring their own rods, reels and tackle. Below is the required list for tackle for all the trips we do.

Dry Tortugas and Marathon Trips

7 – 8 ft. 50 lb. Conventional rod with a Diawa Saltist 50/Shimano Torium 30 reel with 50 lb mono or braid
7 – 8 ft 30 lb. Conventional rod with a Diawa Saltist 40/Shimano Torium 20 reel with 30 lb mono or braid
7 ft. 20 lb. Spinning rod
3 Sabiki rigs for catching bait
Small cooler for bait and your food
Personal cooler for for your catch after the trip
Demon Perfect Circle 3X Strong 39942NP-BN 25 each: 3/0, 5/0, 7/0
5 – triple hook Kingfish rigs with 1/ 1/2 Jig heads

Many anglers are simply too busy or do not have the facilities to catch bait on their own. The easiest options are stop by one of the myriad bait shops in the Keys.
